Question Bank

Before creating a quiz in ACORN you must first have questions. Questions can be set up in various categories. Categories can help you organize types of questions, chapters the questions came from, etc. This makes it easier to build a quiz, as well as to add questions randomly.

Categories

Building your category list:

  1. Log into ACORN and enter your course.
  2. Under the ADMINISTRATION block, select Question bank and then Categories.
  3. Under Add category, select the Parent category from the dropdown list. Fill in the Name, then click on the Add category button. Rinse and repeat.

Generally speaking, you will have a default category named after the course’s short name (e.g. Default for COMP 1813 X1). If you plan on creating multiple quizzes with different file types and randomly assigned questions, you may want to create a structure like this (click on the icon to see a larger picture):

Once your categories have been set up, you can begin to add questions to them.
