Full-year (6 hr) Courses
With the introduction of Colleague, the way full-year (6hr) courses present in Moodle (ACORN) has changed. Previously, there would be one course with dates from September through to April (e.g. SOCI 1006 X0 2020-2021). Now, there are 2 separate courses, one for each term (e.g. SOCI 1006 FW01 Fall and SOCI 1006 FW01 Winter). Although there is no proper way for us to deal with this now, there is a fairly simple workaround. Please follow the steps below.
- Log into ACORN and enter your course.
- Near the top right corner of the window, click on the gear icon and select Edit settings (view image).
- In the General section, you will see an option called Course end date (view image). Change this date from 31 December 202x to 30 April 202(x+1).
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the Save changes button (view image).
- Make sure that this course remains visible to students but keep the Winter section hidden.
- Note that the active section will still have Fall in the name, so be sure to inform your students that this is still the proper course to use until the end of the year.
